The Honda Civic Type R Named Hot Hatch of the Year

The Honda Civic Type R Named Hot Hatch of the Year

By | Honda Cars | No Comments

The Honda Civic Type R Named Hot Hatch of the Year! Recently, Auto Express released their annual list of the best cars and the 2017 Honda Civic Type R was named Hot Hatch of the Year. The editors at Auto Express explain the effort that goes into creating these lists, “At Auto Express we’ve been at the cutting edge of all these developments, road testing hundreds of cars, analysing the big consumer issues and bringing you the latest car news, first. Choosing the New Car Awards winners has been a tougher job than ever this year but we think we’ve identified the cream of the crop and this evening, you’ll finally get the chance to have your say on our judges’ verdicts.”

The editors explain why the Civic Type R has been named the Hot Hatch of the Year, “The hot hatch class is one of the most varied and competitive out there, but as some rivals have moved to four-wheel drive and dual-clutch transmissions, Honda has stuck with old-fashioned front-wheel drive and a manual box – and it has served the new Civic Type R  very well. The car has already smashed the lap record for a front-wheel-drive production model at the Nürburgring race track in Germany, and at £30,995 it’s a bit of a bargain.”

Honda Is Number One Trending Googled Car Brand

Honda Is Number One Trending Googled Car Brand

By | Honda Cars, Honda News | No Comments

Honda Is Number One Trending Googled Car Brand! This year, Honda jumped two spots in Google’s “Year in Search” list which is a great feat, considering how luxury-heavy these search results tend to be. The search criteria has been changed a little this year. Last year the results were based on the “most-searched” names while this year was based on “trending” names. For the purpose of the ranking, trending refers to those names with the highest and most-sustained spikes of search traffic. With this new criteria, only Honda, Mercedes-Benz, and Tesla remained on the list and each moved up in 2016.

Honda jumped from third place in 2015 to replace Chevrolet as number 1 in 2016. Increased search inquiries about the 2017 HR-V, 2017 CR-V and 2017 Pilot helped the brand move to the top.

Come see why Honda overtook the list this year and test drive the all-new 2017 CR-V today! For more Wilde Honda Sarasota News and Events, follow us on Twitter or Like us on Facebook!

The Newly Redesigned Honda CR-V Available Soon

The Newly Redesigned Honda CR-V Available Soon

By | Honda Cars | No Comments
The Newly Redesigned Honda CR-V Available Soon! Last week, we reported about Honda’s SUVs shining in “10 best” lists by Kelley Blue Book, but now we are excited to announce the launch of the all-new, fifth-generation CR-V. The Honda CR-V, America’s best-selling SUV over the past 20 years, has sold nearly 4 million CR-Vs since its U.S. launch in 1997. The new 2017 Honda CR-V will feature a bold new styling, a more premium interior, the first-ever turbocharged engine as well as a host of other new features and technologies.

Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division, spoke about the launch saying, “The new Honda CR-V raises the bar in every imaginable way, delivering more performance, space and premium content together with higher fuel economy ratings and value than ever before. Customers are going to love what they see and what they experience behind the wheel of this new CR-V.”

Bold New Styling

The new 2017 Honda CR-V features a more aggressive attitude with crisp and sharp front-end design elements, stylized headlights surrounded by a wing-shaped LED DRL on all trims, and wide, muscular fenders. The CR-V looks more sophisticated and athletic with a longer hood and wheelbase, short rear overhand, and dual exhausts. Honda LED headlights, a Honda-first Active Shutter Grille, uprated aluminum alloy wheels and more narrow A-pillars give the CR-V a new windswept front end appearance.

New Convenience

Hands-Free Access Power Tailgate, a Honda-first, allows opening and closing of the tailgate with a foot activated sensor under the rear vehicle. Available Auto High Beam with High Beam Support (AHB) headlights, chrome garnishes, rain-sensing windshield wipers, roof rails and numerous Genuine Honda Accessories also expand beauty, convenience and functionality.

New Powertrain

For the 2017 CR-V in EX and higher trims, the Honda CR-V will feature its first ever turbocharged engine, a 1.5-liter DOHC, direct-injected and turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder powerplant rated at 190 horsepower. CR-V LX trims will be powered by the 2.4-liter DOHC, direct-injected i-VTECÔ engine. Both engines will have a smooth shifting and continuously variable transmission (CVT) with Honda G-Shift control logic.

Honda Tops Kelley Blue Book's Best Back to School Cars

Honda Tops Kelley Blue Book’s Best Back to School Cars

By | Honda Cars, Honda News | No Comments

School is officially back in session! To help you get ready for the new school year, Kelley Blue Book has put together their list of the Best Back to School Cars. Three Honda models made the list, making it the brand with the most cars represented. Read on to see why the KBB experts picked so many Honda models for its Best Back to School cars list!

The lowest ranking Honda model is the Honda HR-V coming in at number 4. Kelley Blue Book explains, “Honda’s newest, smallest SUV is the early leader in the burgeoning subcompact SUV segment. Mixing the roomiest, most flexible cabin in the group with all the goodness that accompanies the Honda badge, the HR-V is arguably the smartest choice in this increasingly popular segment. It’s also more stylish than its CR-V big brother, helping it win favor with the student set.”

Coming in number 3, is the 2016 Honda Civic. The experts share, “Our Overall Best Buy for 2016 and tops on this year’s list of our favorite new cars, the boldly styled new Civic is among the roomiest, most comfortable, most fun to drive, most efficient, most feature-packed cars in the class. It’s also among the likeliest to make it through grad school, thanks to all the refinement, reliability and reputation that ride along with the Civic name and Honda badge.”

And which model takes the top spot? The 2016 Honda Fit! KBB experts report, “Still an unmatched mix of affordability, efficiency, versatility, reliability and fun, Honda’s subcompact car tops our annual list of 10 Best Back to School Cars once again. Positively cavernous inside, the Fit’s flipping/folding second-row Magic Seat makes it the most flexible car in its class. Standout styling and a lively demeanor add student-friendly sizzle, while strong resale value, a reputation for trouble-free ownership and a NHTSA 5-star Overall Safety Rating all speak to the hearts, minds and wallets of parents.”

Honda Odyssey, Honda Accord, and Honda Pilot are in the Top American-Made Cars

Honda Odyssey, Honda Accord, and Honda Pilot are in the Top American-Made Cars

By | Honda Cars, Honda News | No Comments

Cars.com recently released their American-Made Index and the Honda Odyssey, Honda Accord and Honda Pilot have all been named in the top 10! Although the Honda Odyssey is a return vehicle to the list, this is the first time the Honda Accord and Pilot have been on the list since 2012. Cars.com aims to share with consumers where their cars are being made and where their parts are coming from and then assigns them an American-Made Index. The vehicles are inspected on a model-by-model basis and are scored based on whether they are assembled here, using at least 75% domestic parts under federal regulations (determined by the 1992 AALA and includes Canada in domestic ratings), and were bought in large numbers by American consumers.  Models that fall below the 75% parts rule, are built exclusively outside of the U.S. or models soon to be discontinued without an American-made successor are disqualified.

Cars.com further analyzed how many U.S. based assembly-plant employees are supported by each model. The Honda Accord came in second, employing around 3,500 workers, while the Honda Odyssey came in fourth supporting just under 2,000 workers and the Honda Pilot came in fifth supporting around 1,750 workers. These figures don’t reflect the jobs created by manufacturing parts and running dealerships which includes sales, finance, marketing, management, and service/parts which make up another 1.2 million jobs in comparison to the 322,000 that work in assembly. Although the Camry tops the traditional list, if an alternative approach that uses production numbers instead of sales figures as a barometer of assembly-line employment is used to determine the AMI, then the Honda Accord comes first.

By | Honda Cars, Honda News | No Comments

We recently shared the exciting news that the new Honda Ridgeline had finally arrived at our dealership, and now we’ve learned that the Ridgeline has caused a huge surge in Honda’s June sales. After one week on the market, the total sales for the 2017 Honda Ridgeline was 2,472 units sold. The total sales reported for Honda and Acura vehicles for June were 138,715, an increase of 3.2 percent over last June, but the light trucks segment gained 2.2% with sales of 68,780. Honda’s truck division set a new June record, soaring 6.6% on sales of 61,469 vehicles while the car division rose 7.7% on sales 65,894 units. For the first half of the year both brands are up 5.2% over last year. Sales on the Honda CR-V rose 4.5% with 29,615 units sold, while the Honda Civic enjoyed a 10.7% increase with sales of 31,810. The Honda Accord sales also rose 4.8%, due to the help of the new 2017 Accord Hybrid.

Actually, June marked 40 years in production for the Honda Accord. Accord‘s success over four decades is deeply woven into the fabric of American car culture and American industry, and we are thankful for and deeply humbled by the loyalty and trust that our customers have placed in Honda and in Accord over the past 40 years.”

The All-New Honda Ridgeline is Here

By | Honda Cars | No Comments

The new 2017 Honda Ridgeline is finally at our dealership! John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda’s automotive division, spoke about the new truck model saying, “(It) isn’t just about doing what other trucks can do, it’s about creating new value and new capacity for customers. It’s the most versatile packaging in the segment. It’s the latest and greatest technology we have to offer.” Features of the new Ridgeline include new powertrain, medium duty towing capability, about 1,600 pounds of payload capacity, front- or all-wheel drive, 5-foot-wide-by-5-foot-4-inches bed space, under seat storage and more.

WHAT THE EXPERTS ARE SAYING:

Consumer reports explains, “The independent suspension that makes the trunk space possible also contributes to a more comfortable ride and better handling than most conventional trucks offer—traits the new model should share with the original.”

Edmunds.com says, “Class-leading ride and handling makes it a comfortable daily driver; advanced all-wheel-drive system adjusts to varying terrain; less expensive two-wheel-drive version now available; modern interior is roomy and attractive; backseat more accommodating of people and cargo; best fuel economy in the segment; dent-resistant bed with exclusive trunk and two-way tailgate; can shoulder more payload than competitors.”

KBB writes, “Honda‘s Ridgeline will appeal to people who want a vehicle that drives like an SUV, has the cushy creature comforts and technology of an SUV, yet has a truck bed and can still carry payload and tow. The Ridgeline, all-new for 2017, is more capable, more fuel efficient, nicer to drive, more tech-savvy and, honestly, much better looking than the truck it replaces.”

Consumer Reports 2016 Top Ten: Honda Fit

By | Honda Cars, Honda News | No Comments

Consumer Reports has named the Honda Fit in its Top Ten Picks for 2016. Consumer Reports chooses the vehicles based on four categories: performance, reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety. In order to qualify in the performance category, the vehicle must rank at or near the top of its class in Consumer Reports’s road-test score. In the safety category, it is paramount that the vehicle performs effectively in crash tests performed by the government and insurance agencies like IIHS. Over 230,000 people were surveyed regarding their overall satisfaction with their vehicle for the owner satisfaction category. The reliability category required that the vehicles have at least an average reliability based on top concerns decided in the 2015 auto survey, which was conducted on over 740,000 vehicles. From all this data, Consumer Reports compiled their list of its Top Ten Picks for 2016.

In the subcompact car category, the Honda Fit received an overall score of 67. Consumer Reports writes about the Fit, “It’s thrifty with fuel, returning a competitive 33 mpg overall, and yet its nimble handling never gives off a ‘compromise’ car vibe. It has remarkable interior space for such a tiny footprint, with second-row seats that elegantly stow away or flip up to hold more cargo.”
